MESSAGE CAMPAIGNS · PRACTICAL GUIDE

Beyond bulk SMS: build message campaigns around customers and the next action

Connect SMS, WhatsApp and email outreach to customer context, configured follow-up, replies, delivery states and team responsibility.

Bulk sending is one part of customer engagement

A bulk SMS service can send an announcement to a list of numbers. That can be useful. A business also needs to decide who the message is for, why they should receive it, what happens if they reply and which action follows.

GoDesk message campaigns belong in the customer operation alongside connected channels, records and configured workflows. The aim is to make outreach useful and manageable, rather than simply increase the number of texts sent.

Start with the audience and purpose

A prospect asking for information, a customer needing a service update and an account holder with a payment commitment have different needs. GoDesk provides audience selection using tags, segments, lifecycle, organisation and contact-field conditions, with targeting based on the available customer data.

For an illustrative solar retailer, the audience might be contacts tagged with solar interest whose county field contains the target area. A service campaign might use an existing customer segment instead. Combined filters help narrow the audience; the matching contact information must exist and be kept accurate.

Personalise the message and choose when to send

The campaign builder supports message fields such as first name, customer name, company details and links. Use SMS, an approved WhatsApp template or email. For SMS, the builder shows character length and message-part count so the team can review what it is sending.

Save a draft, send a test to yourself and choose to send now or later. Sending pace is configurable. A scheduled campaign is different from a message triggered by an individual event; GoDesk also provides configured event-based follow-up for supported lead and call workflows.

Plan the reply before sending

Campaign replies can follow the usual routing or be directed to a team queue, such as sales, support or collections. A sales reply may become an opportunity or task. A request for help may need a support ticket. Someone should be ready to continue the conversation.

Two-way SMS depends on the configured gateway; not every SMS sender supports replies. The SMS builder also offers opt-out wording. Agree how the business handles contact preferences, requests to stop and the channel’s sending requirements rather than treat the campaign as a broadcast with no response path.

Measure delivery and the business result separately

Sending, delivery, replies and completed work are different questions. GoDesk provides message delivery visibility; related sales, support and collections reports show the progress of the operation. A delivered text is not automatically a read message or a sale.

Start with one campaign and demonstrate who enters the audience, how the message is sent, how the team handles a response and how the resulting work is reviewed. That is the difference between a sending tool and a connected customer engagement process.
