WHATSAPP BUSINESS, EXPLAINED

Your customers use WhatsApp.
What does your business need?

The Business app, the Business Platform and GoDesk do different jobs. Choose around how your team answers customers and follows through on each request.

The Business app

A familiar app for business conversations, with a business profile and quick replies. It can suit a small operation whose messages are straightforward to manage.

The Business Platform and API

The API connects WhatsApp to business software. Cloud API is hosted by Meta. It provides messaging connectivity that a platform can use for team conversations and configured workflows.

Your team’s GoDesk workspace

GoDesk gives the connected messages owners, customer context and a next step. Your team can work on enquiries, support tickets, quotes and follow-up alongside calls, SMS and email.

You do not need to build your own messaging system. As your WhatsApp Business Solution Provider, or BSP, GoDesk helps plan the account connection and the way your team will use it.

GETTING STARTED WITH WHATSAPP

A simple guide to getting started.

GoDesk uses official WhatsApp Business API connectivity to bring messages into your team’s workspace. We help you plan the connection and your team’s workflow.

  1. Prepare your business account

Have your business name, website and contact details ready. Use a Meta business portfolio for your organisation, with someone who can manage the relevant business assets. If you already have one, confirm who has access.

    Open Meta Business Suite ↗
  2. Choose the business number

Choose a number your business controls and can verify. Tell us if it already uses WhatsApp or another provider so we can confirm the right connection or migration route. Agree access to existing history and any downtime before changing the current setup.

Understand the WhatsApp Business Platform ↗
  3. Connect the account to GoDesk

With the account administrator, follow the agreed onboarding route to connect your WhatsApp Business account and number. Complete any account, number or business checks Meta requests. We confirm the connection before your team starts using it.

  4. Prepare your team and messages

Choose conversation owners, assignment rules and the support or sales workflow. Prepare quick replies and submit templates for outreach where needed. Plan how you collect customer permission and handle opt-outs.

    Read Meta’s messaging requirements ↗
  5. Test, then start serving customers

Use a test customer to check incoming messages, replies, agent handovers and any configured tickets or follow-up. Confirm the approved templates and applicable message costs. Once the number is connected, you can direct customers to it using your website, a WhatsApp link or a QR code.

WHATSAPP MESSAGING PRICING

Meta’s messaging charge.
Plus US$0.005 per billable unit.

GoDesk adds a US$0.005 messaging fee to each unit Meta charges for. Under Meta’s current model, this is per chargeable delivered message. Messages for which Meta makes no charge do not attract this additional GoDesk messaging fee. Both Meta’s published message rates and this GoDesk messaging fee are stated in US dollars.

A simple cost example

For 10,000 Meta-chargeable delivered messages, the GoDesk messaging fee is US$50, plus the applicable Meta charges. Your proposal identifies the billing currency and conversion arrangement, any workspace subscription, setup or integration work, and applicable taxes.

Meta rates depend on the recipient market and message category. Check Meta’s current pricing and confirm the complete billing arrangement in your GoDesk proposal.

WHATSAPP, EXPLAINED

Questions businesses ask.

What is a shared WhatsApp inbox?

It is a workspace where authorised members of your team handle messages sent to your connected business account. Conversations have an owner, and customer history stays available when another agent takes over.

How is this different from using the WhatsApp Business app?

The Business app helps a business chat with customers. GoDesk connects WhatsApp Business Platform messaging to team assignment, customer records, support tickets, sales opportunities, quotes and follow-up. It is useful when your team needs to manage the work created by each conversation.

Can a WhatsApp request become a support ticket?

Yes. Configure how incoming conversations create or connect to support work. Assign a ticket, set its priority and track it through resolution. The conversation and ticket context remain available to the team.

Can we keep our existing WhatsApp number?

We review your number, current app or provider and business account during onboarding. That determines the available connection or migration route. Confirm number eligibility, any service interruption and access to existing history before making a change.

Can we send messages after a call or a new enquiry?

Yes. GoDesk supports configured WhatsApp follow-up around call outcomes, unanswered attempts and new leads. Agree the event, recipient and message. Sending must meet WhatsApp permission and template requirements.

What are WhatsApp templates and the 24-hour window?

A template is a message format approved by WhatsApp for business outreach. When a customer messages you, a 24-hour customer service window opens or resets. You can reply without a template during that window. Outside it, approved templates are required. Customer permission and opt-out requests still apply.

Where can we learn the basics and get setup help?

Our WhatsApp knowledge base covers the app and API, account and number preparation, templates and permission, team workflows, campaigns, costs and common connection problems. GoDesk can help plan the setup for your business.

Do we need to replace our CRM or ERP?

You can use GoDesk customer records or plan a connection to your existing CRM or ERP through APIs and webhooks. Agree which customer details, enquiries and updates need to move between systems.

How is WhatsApp priced?

GoDesk adds a US$0.005 messaging fee to each unit Meta charges for. Under Meta’s current model, this is per chargeable delivered message. Messages for which Meta makes no charge do not attract this additional GoDesk messaging fee. Both Meta’s published message rates and this GoDesk messaging fee are stated in US dollars. Platform, setup, integration charges and applicable taxes are confirmed in your proposal.
