Start with the account, not a calling list
A lender, a credit team or a collections agency needs more than a list of phone numbers. The collector needs to know the account, the amount and status supplied by the source system, previous contact, the current treatment strategy and any promise to pay. Without that context, a call may duplicate an earlier conversation or miss the action the customer already agreed to take.
For a team operating in Kenya or across African markets, the practical question is how to organise that work consistently across portfolios, people and communication channels. GoDesk brings account work, calling, messaging and recovery reporting into a collections workflow.
Separate creditor portfolios and assign the work
An organisation collecting its own receivables needs ownership of each account. An agency collecting for other creditors also needs to keep portfolios, assignments and commission arrangements distinct. GoDesk supports first-party and third-party collections, creditor portfolios and account assignments.
Import account data through CSV or an agreed API connection. Use days-past-due buckets and account segments to organise treatment strategies. The team should know which accounts to work, which strategy applies and who is responsible.
Connect outreach to the account history
Calling and messaging should be part of the account workflow. A collector can work with a progressive campaign, use a script, record the outcome and schedule the next action. Customer context should remain available when a later interaction arrives through another channel.
Contact-hour, holiday and message-hold controls help teams apply the operating rules configured for a portfolio. These controls support a defined process; they do not replace the organisation’s responsibility to establish the rules appropriate to its customers and markets.
Track promises and reconcile payment updates
A promise to pay is an agreement to follow up, not a completed recovery. GoDesk tracks promises through made, due, kept and broken states, with grace periods and follow-up. Payment imports or API updates allow the operation to relate account activity to reported payments.
The lending, accounting or finance system continues to process payments and hold the financial record. GoDesk supports collections execution and reporting using the account and payment information supplied to it.
Measure recovery alongside collector activity
Call counts can show workload, but they do not show which portfolios are progressing. Review promises, reported recovery, attribution and collector productivity together. GoDesk supports recovery reporting and payment attribution, including productivity per logged hour.
A useful demonstration starts with one portfolio: how accounts enter, how collectors work them, how promises are recorded and how payment updates return. That is a clearer evaluation than looking at disconnected feature screens.
