QUOTES & CPQ · PRACTICAL GUIDE

What is CPQ? Give your sales team a faster way to prepare and share quotes

Build priced offers from your product catalogue, generate branded PDFs, share them on WhatsApp or email and track the sales opportunity.

CPQ means Configure, Price, Quote

Configure means choose the products or services and quantities the customer needs. Price means apply the relevant prices, discounts, tax and fees. Quote means turn that offer into a document the customer can review.

A team can perform those steps manually in spreadsheets and word-processing files. As more people sell, a shared quote tool gives them a common catalogue and a consistent way to prepare offers. In GoDesk, those tools are connected to the sales opportunity.

Prepare the offer from a shared catalogue

GoDesk supports a product and service catalogue with product codes, prices, VAT, billing types and categories. Products can be imported through CSV. Salespeople can add catalogue items or custom lines to the opportunity and specify quantity and discount.

The quote builder brings line items, discounts, shipping and other fees into the calculation. The team still needs an agreed pricing policy and permissions; having a quote tool is not a substitute for deciding which prices and discounts salespeople may offer.

Send the customer a professional quote

Generate a branded PDF with the offer details. Share the quote document through WhatsApp, email or another suitable channel that supports documents. Meet the customer where the sales conversation is already happening.

GoDesk also supports email quote delivery and open tracking. Sharing a document through another channel does not, by itself, prove the customer has read or accepted it. Keep the commercial decision separate from message delivery.

Know what happens after the quote leaves the business

GoDesk tracks quote states such as draft, out for acceptance, accepted, declined and expired. Keep the quote connected to the opportunity so the team can see which offer needs follow-up and which decision has been recorded.

An illustrative inside sales workflow starts with a WhatsApp enquiry, continues with a call, produces a quote and ends with a customer decision. The salesperson should be able to continue that process without rebuilding the offer or losing the earlier conversation.

Make quoting part of the sales process

Start with your catalogue, common quote format and discount rules. Demonstrate a simple offer and one with several products, quantities and fees. Check the resulting PDF and the next follow-up task.

If your ERP owns stock, invoicing or the authoritative price list, agree which information should be connected. A sales quote is an offer; it should not be presented as a completed invoice or payment.
