SIP connects the business phone system to calling services
SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol. In practical business terms, a SIP calling service connects your PBX to the telephone network using an internet-based connection. The PBX handles your extensions and call routes; the calling provider supplies the compatible connection and numbers.
GoDesk can provide SIP lines or connect a compatible service from your preferred provider. Your team can use compatible IP desk phones, mobile or web phones. The numbers, connection, network and calling charges are agreed during setup.
A number and its call capacity are different things
A business number is the number customers dial. Concurrent call capacity is how many calls the service can support at the same time. A suitable SIP arrangement can carry several calls to one business number, so another customer is not blocked simply because one colleague is already speaking.
Capacity is planned rather than unlimited by definition. The provider arrangement, PBX setup, available agents and network all matter. Agree how many simultaneous calls you need and what should happen when capacity or staffing is reached.
Welcome callers and help them reach the right team
A welcome message tells the customer they have reached your business. An IVR is the familiar menu that asks callers to choose sales, support or another destination. Business-hour rules can change the route when the office is closed.
Use a short greeting and useful choices. A complicated menu is not automatically better service. GoDesk supports greetings, IVR menus, routing and schedules so the calling experience can match the business.
Keep callers informed when staff are busy
A queue holds callers until an agent is available. Music on hold and recorded announcements can make it clear that the caller is still connected. A configured callback option gives a caller another way to continue without remaining on hold.
This is different from promising that a business line can never be engaged or that nobody will wait. Plan queue limits, staffing and overflow handling for busy periods, then review missed calls and queue reports to improve the setup.
Choose a phone system or a wider customer platform
GoDesk cloud PBX can serve office and branch calling on its own. If customer work also arrives through WhatsApp, SMS, email or webchat, add the contact centre and relevant customer workflow tools.
For a demonstration, bring your current mobile or landline arrangement, locations, expected call volume and the greeting or routing you want. Ask to see two simultaneous calls, a busy queue and the after-hours route.
