Hand over to GoDesk to connect your number

When you are ready to hand over your WhatsApp setup to GoDesk, how to do it, what GoDesk does and how you know your number is live.

When you are ready to hand over

You have created your Meta Business portfolio and you are an administrator of it, ideally with a second administrator too.

You have submitted business verification to Meta, or it is already approved. You can hand over while Meta is still reviewing it.

Your number is ready and the business controls it. For a new number, someone can receive a code on it by SMS or voice call. If you are keeping the WhatsApp Business app, the app is updated and the phone will be with you at the agreed time to confirm the connection. A number on the personal WhatsApp app has been deleted or moved to the Business app. A number with another provider has two-step verification turned off.

You have chosen your display name, and your logo, short business description, address, website and opening hours are ready.

How to hand over

Email help@godesk.co.ke with your GoDesk workspace name, your registered business name, the number you want to use, the display name you chose, and the name and email address of your Meta Business portfolio administrator.

Attach your logo and include your business description and profile details. GoDesk then contacts you to agree the next steps and a time for registering the number.

What GoDesk does

GoDesk handles the whole technical process. It sets up or connects the WhatsApp Business Account in your portfolio, registers your number, submits your display name and profile to Meta, and connects the number to your GoDesk workspace.

GoDesk also helps you create and submit your first message templates, and tests that messages flow both ways before you go live.

Your portfolio, WhatsApp Business Account and number remain your business’s property throughout.

What GoDesk may ask of you

To sign in to Meta yourself and approve GoDesk’s access to set up WhatsApp in your portfolio. You do this in Meta’s own screens, so your password stays with you.

To have the phone ready at an agreed time and read out the code Meta sends to the number, or, if you are keeping the WhatsApp Business app, to confirm the connection in the app. Share a code only at that time, in the way agreed, and never by email.

To answer questions about your business or to resend a document if Meta asks for one. GoDesk will never ask for your Facebook password.

How you know it is done

GoDesk tells you when the number is connected. To check for yourself, send a WhatsApp message from a personal phone to the business number. It should appear in the GoDesk inbox as a new conversation.

Reply from GoDesk and check that the reply arrives on the personal phone. Ask a second agent to check they can see WhatsApp conversations too.

After go-live

Update your website, email signature, receipts and adverts with the WhatsApp number, and tell your team who answers WhatsApp and when.

To message someone who has not written to you in the last 24 hours, use an approved template. Keep messages relevant so your quality rating stays high.

If you change your number, display name or business details later, ask GoDesk first so the connection keeps working.

Need help?

If you are a GoDesk customer and get stuck at any step, email help@godesk.co.ke. Tell us your workspace name, the business number and what you see on screen. Never send passwords, verification codes or your two-step PIN by email.

New to GoDesk and planning WhatsApp for your business? Email hello@godesk.co.ke and we will talk you through the journey before you start.
