Verify your business with Meta

What Meta business verification is, when you need it, which documents to prepare and the common reasons a submission is rejected.

What business verification does

Business verification is Meta confirming that your business is real and that the portfolio belongs to it. You start it from the Security Centre in your business settings in Meta Business Suite. Only a portfolio administrator can submit it.

You can usually register a number and begin answering customers before verification is complete. Verification is what lets you grow.

When you need it

Meta uses verification as one of the ways to raise your messaging limit, which is how many different customers you can start conversations with in a day. Without it, a new portfolio starts on a low limit.

Meta also limits a new portfolio to a small number of registered business numbers until it is verified. A verified portfolio can hold more numbers and more message templates.

Verification is also one of the requirements for an Official Business Account, the blue tick. If you plan marketing campaigns or have several branches, start verification early.

Documents to prepare

Meta asks for official documents that show your legal business name, and depending on the confirmation method, your address or phone number. Documents commonly used include a certificate of registration or incorporation, a business licence, a tax registration certificate, and a utility bill or bank statement in the business’s name.

Upload clear, complete copies. Documents filled in by the business itself without an official stamp or signature are not accepted.

Meta’s list of accepted documents can change and differs by country. Check the current list in Meta’s business verification help pages before you upload.

Confirm your connection to the business

Meta also asks you to prove you can be reached at the business. Depending on what Meta offers you, this can be a code sent to an email address on your website’s domain, a call or text to the business phone number, or verifying your domain.

An email address on your own domain, such as one ending in your company’s web address, works much better than a free email address. Make sure someone can receive messages there during the process.

Common reasons verification fails

The legal name in the portfolio does not match the documents exactly. Fix the name in the business information settings, then resubmit.

The address or phone number on the documents does not match what you entered. Upload a document that shows both the legal name and the matching address or phone number.

The document is unclear, cropped, expired or self-filed. The website is down, under construction or does not mention the business.

Meta tells you the reason in the Security Centre. Correct that one thing before resubmitting, rather than uploading the same documents again.
