Zendesk permissions, data and recordings

What GoDesk can access in Zendesk, what it stores, what it sends to Zendesk, and how recordings are shared.

How GoDesk connects

You connect by signing in at your own Zendesk as an administrator and allowing GoDesk. GoDesk never sees a Zendesk password or API token, and Zendesk shows the connection under your account’s OAuth tokens.

GoDesk asks for read and write access, which it needs to read and update tickets and users, log calls and install GoDesk Phone.

Access renews automatically. If Zendesk ever asks for it again, GoDesk shows: Zendesk needs signing in again.

What calling inside Zendesk sends to Zendesk

For each logged call: the caller’s number, the line called, times, duration, queue, the agent who answered and a link to the recording.

If a caller is not yet a Zendesk user, GoDesk adds them as a user named by their phone number.

What the sync brings into GoDesk CRM

Customers (name, email, phone and organisation), organisations, tickets and the conversation on them, including who wrote each message. Files are kept as links to Zendesk, not copied.

GoDesk stores this data in your GoDesk workspace, protected like the rest of your GoDesk data. Access tokens are stored encrypted.

What the sync sends to Zendesk

Ticket changes, notes and replies from GoDesk as private notes, call notes if you chose to send calls, and, when GoDesk needs a requester for a new ticket, that customer’s name, email and phone.

Recordings

Recordings stay on GoDesk servers. Zendesk receives a private link to each recording, which plays it for as long as GoDesk keeps it.

Anyone with the link can play that recording, so treat call records in Zendesk with the same care as the recordings themselves.

Removing access

Disconnect in GoDesk at any time, or remove GoDesk’s access in Zendesk Admin Center. See Disconnect GoDesk for Zendesk.
