What a business portfolio is
A Meta Business portfolio is where Meta keeps your business’s assets: Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts, ad accounts and your WhatsApp Business Account. It used to be called Business Manager, and you may still see that name in older guides.
Your WhatsApp Business Account will live inside this portfolio. Whoever controls the portfolio controls the WhatsApp account, so it should belong to the business, not to a staff member or an outside agency.
Check whether you already have one
Many businesses already have a portfolio because someone set up Facebook advertising or a Page. Sign in to Meta Business Suite and look at the business name in the top corner or in the business settings. If your business appears there, use that portfolio rather than creating a second one.
If an agency or former employee created it, ask them to add your own administrator before you start. Duplicate portfolios for the same business cause confusion later, especially during verification.
Create a new portfolio
Sign in to Meta Business Suite with the personal Facebook account of the person who will manage it. Choose the option to create a business portfolio and enter the business name, your name and a business email address.
Meta sends a confirmation email to that address. Open it and confirm, otherwise some settings stay locked.
Create the portfolio yourself before you hand over to GoDesk, and check the details calmly. GoDesk sets up your WhatsApp account inside this portfolio, so it must exist and you must be an administrator.
Enter business details that match your documents
In the business information settings, enter the legal business name, address, phone number and website. Use exactly the same spelling as on your registration certificate and other official documents.
Small differences cause verification to fail. For example, a registered name ending in Limited typed as Ltd, a missing branch name, or an old address. If your trading name differs from your registered name, the legal name goes here and the trading name can become your WhatsApp display name.
The website should be live, use your own domain, and show the business name. If you do not have a website, an active Facebook Page for the business helps.
Add at least two administrators
In the people settings, invite a second trusted person with full control. If the only administrator leaves or loses access to their Facebook account, recovering the portfolio is slow and difficult.
Give full control only to people who need it. Others can be added with limited access later.
Turn on two-factor authentication for every administrator’s Facebook account. Meta may require it for some business settings.
