Your price band depends on the quantity ordered
GoDesk’s Kenya SMS rates are based on the purchase quantity, not monthly usage. Unused SMS do not expire. The rates below exclude VAT.
| SMS ordered | Price per SMS |
|---|---|
| Up to 100,000 | KSh 0.80 |
| 100,001 to 500,000 | KSh 0.60 |
| 500,001 to 999,999 | KSh 0.50 |
| 1,000,000 or more | KSh 0.40 |
Example: an order of 200,000 SMS at KSh 0.60 costs KSh 120,000 before VAT. Confirm sender, platform and any setup or integration charges separately.
A long message can use more than one SMS
One message displayed on a customer’s phone can contain several SMS parts. Length and character encoding affect the count. Some special characters or emoji can increase the number of parts.
GoDesk’s campaign tools show character and message-part counts. Review the draft after personalisation because customer names and other inserted fields can change its length. Use the final part count when estimating usage.
Estimate the campaign, then test it
- Multiply the audience size by the expected parts per recipient.
- Allow for differences in personalised message length.
- Check your purchase band and the available SMS balance.
- Confirm VAT and any sender or platform charges.
- Test the content and links with authorised recipients before scheduling.
For example, 5,000 recipients receiving a two-part message need an estimated 10,000 SMS units. Review the actual message and sending arrangement before treating that estimate as your final bill.
Keep the message relevant and the response manageable
Use contacts authorised for the purpose of the campaign and honour requests to stop. Choose a useful message and a frequency customers can reasonably expect. Agree the permission and opt-out process with your team.
A successful campaign creates work as well as delivery counts. Plan who answers customer enquiries, then review sending results and the response before sending again.
